Did you participate in the I Heart You Quilt-a-long with Then Came June & Pen and Paper Patterns? It was the first time I ever followed along with one and I made two quilts! Such a fun pattern! These two are going to get some more quilty siblings before they’re all gifted in a few months.

I had put these gorgeous rainbow We Are All Stars Bundles up in the shop and knew it would be perfect for an I Heart You Quilt. I started off making one with a bold black background but then curiosity got the best of me and I HAD to see what the rainbow hearts looked like with a light backdrop too! The colors still pop SO great!

This version is using the Rainbow “We Are All Stars” bundle, C+S Sprinkle Jelly Bracelet for the background and Homespun Essex Linen in Flax

How do you decide what your background will be? Are you a tried-and-true white backdrop kind of quilter or do you use less conventional colors? I love using denim the most lately but always toy with using new colors for background. I auditioned five or six different things for these. I LOVE both versions I’ve made so far and because I’m planning to make several more I’ll get to try on other ideas too!
We Are All Stars paired with Black Sprinkle and Black Line We Are All Stars paired with Jelly Sprinkle and Flax Linen Quilted in 28wt Thread with a 2” cross hatch pattern Bound these two in a simple grey and white stripe Quilt Siblings!
These quilts even inspired me to finally try spray basting using an elevated surface (ahem, my dining room table!). You can see the whole thing in my highlights on instagram.
